Captain America: Brave New World has officially wrapped filming as the anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe tentpole takes another major step to its eventual 2024 release.

Brave New World cinematographer Kramer Morgenthau shared on his Instagram Stories that shooting for the latest Captain America sequel is finished by posting a red, white and blue clapperboard with "wrap" at the bottom. The slate also features Brave New World's logo, Morgenthau's name and that of the film's director, Julius Onah.

Brave New World began filming this past March in Atlanta under the working title Rochelle Rochelle, with casting additions made throughout principal photography including The Incredible Hulk's Liz Tyler and WWE superstar Seth Rollins. Tyler will reprise her role from The Incredible Hulk as Bruce Banner's former love interest Betty Ross, while Rollins' character remains undisclosed. Filming also pressed on despite the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike gripping Hollywood, with any writing adjustments expected to be made during scheduled reshoots. The strike, however, forced Marvel to push back the premiere dates of several MCU features including Brave New World, which was pushed back from May 2024 to July 2024.

A New Captain America

As part of the MCU's Phase Five, Brave New World is the first Captain America movie to feature Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson as the all-American supersoldier, taking over from Chris Evans' Steve Rogers, who passed on his trusted shield to Wilson during Avengers: Endgame. Mackie has admitted feeling pressure to live up to playing Captain America in the MCU, crediting his castmates for helping him adjust to the role after feeling lost at first. MCU enthusiasts got a good look at Mackie's Captain America during the 2021 Disney+ miniseries, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, before his upcoming film debut.

Mackie stars in Brave New World alongside Danny Ramirez, whose character, Joaquin Torres, took over from Wilson as the Falcon. Carl Lumbly (Isaiah Bradley), Tim Blake Nelson (Samuel Sterns/Leader) and Harrison Ford (Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross) also appear in the film. The upcoming movie is Onah's biggest project yet, with his most recent theatrical effort being his 2019 social thriller drama, Luce. Meanwhile, Morgenthau is a six-time Emmy nominee known for his work on Thor: The Dark World, Creed II and The Many Saints of Newark, plus acclaimed TV shows such as Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire.

Brave New World is the fourth Captain America film installment after Evans' trilogy which included The First Avenger, The Winter Soldier and Civil War. The movie franchise has so far earned over $2.2 billion at the global box office to date. Brave New World was originally named New World Order before it was officially changed earlier this month, with reports claiming the change has to do with its storyline.

Captain America: Brave New World opens in theaters on July 26, 2024.
