The following contains spoilers for Extraction 2, now streaming on Netflix.

As the sequel to 2020's Extraction starring Chris Hemsworth, Extraction 2 is just as much of an action-packed ride. Hemsworth gets set on fire as Tyler Rake -- literally and figuratively -- as he seeks to rescue family members from a Georgian prison. Of course, Tyler goes all out to get the job done.

Extraction 2 is a wild ride with dynamic fight sequences in what's an otherwise simplistic smash-and-grab job. However, as with so many films in the genre, there are many plot holes that arise. It's all to ensure the job gets done easier, setting the stage for Netflix to do Extraction 3 with a Tyler who has immense plot armor.

Nik Khan Doesn't Kill Zurab in Austria

Extraction 2 Has Nik and Tyler bonding

Extraction 2 director Sam Hargrave shapes an intriguing villain with Zurab, who's hunting Tyler across Europe. Zurab wants Tyler dead for killing his brother Davit and taking the children. It leads to a fight at an Austrian hotel, with Tyler sliding off a glass roof to catch a falling Nik. He tosses her onto the balcony, where Nik actually finds the gun belonging to Zurab.

However, while Zurab also hangs off the roof after a scrap with Tyler, Nik ignores the fact she has him dead to rights. She could literally shoot Zurab dead, with his body falling dozens of stories to the ground. Yet she heads off to protect the children and their mother, Ketevan. It's massive plot convenience just to create Extraction 2's bloody ending and a grudge match between Tyler and Zurab. But it's a big mistake for Nik, as letting Zurab live allows him to later kill her own brother, Yaz.

Yaz Khan Doesn't Realize His Phone Is Missing

Nik and Yaz bump fists in Extraction 2

Nik and Yaz help Tyler get Ketevan out, as she's his ex-wife's sister. However, they had to kill Ketevan's abusive ex, Davit, to free her and the children from the jail. This angers Sandro (Davit's son), who refuses to believe his father would have killed his mother. Sandro ends up stealing Yaz's phone on the plane en route to Austria.

Sandro calls Zurab over, and actually keeps the phone for a couple of hours. It's quite ridiculous to think, however, Yaz wouldn't notice his phone got swiped off the dining table on the plane or that Sandro could keep it for so long. It's all so Zurab could come over, infuriating the audiences over how disloyal Sandro is, and why Yaz forgets about the phone after eating next to the child.

Sandro's Loyalty Makes No Sense

Extraction's Sandro gets angry when he hears his dad died

In the Georgian prison, Sandro literally hears Davit threatening to kill his mother for hating how he's used political connections and stuck them there to keep him company. Thus, he shouldn't be angry the man got killed fighting Tyler in the escape mission. Secondly, Zurab's gangsters repeatedly try to kill Tyler's crew, after Sandro let them know he's there with his little sister. That's an obvious red flag Zurab doesn't care about them, just revenge. Yet the boy flees and runs to his uncle in the final act, when evidence is there his gang is filled with monsters.

The Georgian Prison Magically Allows a Riot

In the first act, Extraction 2 is essentially a Call of Duty movie, with Tyler as a super-spy sneaking the family out because Davit's men will try to kill once they see the prison break. Conversely, rival gangs will murder the crew if spotted to get back at Davit. However, everyone is in their cells, so it seems like smooth sailing until Tyler's squad is seen fleeing.

Suddenly, when the heroes hit the courtyard, there's a full-scale riot, without explaining how all the prisoners got out. The only guy who has privileges is Davit, so it would make sense to have paid-off warden to give some of his crew privileges. But there's no reason the rivals should be free too, or have a means of all breaking out. The film keeps this a total mystery just to have an epic fight scene.

Extraction 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
