Tears of the Kingdom offers players a multitude of ways to interact with the lore of past games in the Zelda franchise. One of the main ways is through recognizable equipment and weapons from previous titles, with many of those items being the most powerful in the game. Twilight Princess in particular has some notable callbacks in TOTK, with one of the strongest being Ganondorf's weapon The Sword of the Six Sages.

Ganondorf's Sword of the Six Sages has been renamed the Dusk Claymore in TOTK, and is one of the strongest swords in the game thanks to its 32 base attack power. It's also extremely useful being that it's a one-of-one weapon, thus allowing players to buy it back at any of the Bargainer Statues in the Depths. However, getting it isn't easy: the Dusk Claymore can only be received by completing the Investigating the Thyphlo Ruins side adventure after beating the first four temples and receiving their sage powers.

The Dusk Claymore's History as the Sword of the Six Sages in Twilight Princess

Ganondorf pulling the sword of six Sages from his heart in the legend of Zelda Twilight Princess

In Twilight Princess, the Six Sages imbued their power into a powerful weapon dubbed the Sword of the Six Sages. The Sages attempted to slay Ganondorf with that very sword, but the Triforce of Power awakened within him and saved his life. Taking his fate back into his own hands, Ganondorf took that same sword and used it to kill the Sage of the Water.

In a last-ditch effort, the remaining Sages banished Ganondorf to the Twilight Realm. The Sword of the Six Sages was sent there alongside him and became his weapon of choice from then on. Being created directly from the power of the Sages, the Sword of the Six Sages is one of the few weapons that can actually parallel the strength of the Master Sword. This also makes it the perfect weapon to be wielded by the Demon King.
