It may not get as much love and attention as other shonen, but Hunter x Hunter is still a fun series. Like other decent works of fiction, HxH has interesting characters, and many of them are Hunters who are capable of using Nen. Nen is arguably the most complex and unique power system in anime, which means that the fights are quite entertaining.
Hunter x Hunter fans have met dozens of characters over the years, but some are more memorable than others. Certain characters play an important role in the story, while others simply leave a lasting impression because of their designs, personalities, and abilities. Each member of the Phantom Troupe is a powerful Nen user with their own set of skills. Despite his stoic persona, Feitan serves as the group's interrogator and torturer, and he ranks fifth in the group in terms of physical strength. When it comes to fighting, he is one of the deadliest characters in HxH.
Thanks to his enhanced strength and immense speed, he killed multiple armed Mafia members in the blink of an eye with just his hand. While fighting Zazan in Meteor City, Feitan finally revealed his Nen ability – which is essentially a miniature sun that burns everything around him to death.

As one of the King's Royal Guards, Neferpitou was no ordinary Chimera Ant. Their form was that of a cat-humanoid, which explains why they were so curious and playful. They were also extremely loyal to the King, to the point that they would willingly sacrifice themself for him.
Neferpitou killed Kite just to test their own strength, and they learned about Nen by prodding into Pokkle's brain while he was still alive. They managed to save Komugi's life by pleading with Gon in what turned out to be a very tense scene. Their death at Gon's hands was both gruesome and well deserved.

He may have been over 100 years old, but Isaac Netero was still energetic and full of life. More importantly, he was still one of Hunter x Hunter's strongest characters. He was the 12th Chairman of the Hunter's Association, and he dedicated his life to martial arts and prayer.
For the majority of the series, Netero acted like a playful grandfather, but when the time came for him to fight, he showed how merciless he could be. Thanks to his Nen ability, he could summon a massive statue that would strike opponents with its arms. His fight with the Chimera Ant King was intense, and it is arguably the best fight in the anime.

Leorio has been Gon's friend since the beginning, and he is a Rookie Hunter and medical student. He lost a dear friend to an illness, and he regrets not being able to help him. As a result, he wants to become a doctor so he can help treat the poor.
He is a trustworthy and loyal friend who refuses to retreat, no matter how much the odds are stacked against him. Leorio's best scene comes during the 13th Hunter Chairman Election arc, where he confronts Gon's father in front of all the other Hunters. During the scene, he uses his wormhole-like Nen ability for the first time to hit Ging Freecss.

Chrollo founded the Phantom Troupe, and when he can actually use his Nen, he is the group's unrivaled leader. Fans like Chrollo because he is calm, intelligent, and very charismatic. It also helps that he is a gifted strategist and natural leader.
His Nen ability allows him to steal other abilities and use them as his own, but he needs to pass various conditions in order to do so. Chrollo orchestrated the destruction of the Mafia when one of his friends died, and his fight with Silva and Zeno Zoldyck was very entertaining because it was the first time powerful Nen users fought in earnest against each other.

As the Chimera Ant King, Meruem was the main villain of the Chimera Ant arc. Unlike other Ants, Meruem had a small yet muscular build, and he is often compared to Cell from Dragon Ball Z. His fight with Netero was impressive, but he proved to be too much for the old man.
HxH fans like Meruem because he has one of the best character arcs of any anime villain. He started off as a cruel and violent leader who would kill his own kind without remorse. He also considered humans to be nothing more than food. After meetingKomugi, his humanity became more pronounced. He began to value human life and his love for Komugi superseded his pride.

Gon is one of Hunter x Hunter's main protagonists, so it makes sense that fans are fond of him. He is a fun-loving and friendly boy who gets along with animals. Gon is simple-minded and determined, but he can be very impulsive and prone to anger, which causes him to suffer.
His impulsiveness is ultimately the reason Kite died, and he carried that burden throughout the Chimera Ant arc. When he finally got to fight Neferpito, fans saw a much darker side of Gon. He sacrificed his Nen and risked his life to kill Neferpito without remorse.

While fighting Uvogin, Kurapika proved to be a highly skilled fighter who could use every form of Nen at 100% efficiency. Thanks to his actions, the Phantom Troupe suffered severe losses. Chrollo was forced to leave the Troupe and lost his Nen, while both Uvogin and Pakunoda died.

Hisoka Morow looks like a pale magician, but he is actually a very powerful and dangerous Nen user. Hisoka only wanted a Hunter's license because it would allow him to kill without being arrested. This works very well for him since he prefers to fight strong opponents to the death.
Thanks to his strength, speed, reflexes, and Bungee Gum ability, very few characters can beat Hisoka, and he knows it. Fans like Hisoka because he is self-serving, self-absorbed, and manipulative. He may look calm, but he is a murderous sociopath who enjoys spilling the blood of powerful fighters.

Killua has a sharp mind, but he can kill without hesitation whenever he activates his Assassination Mode. His Nen ability allows him to turn his aura into something similar to electricity. Killua's Godspeed form looks cool, and it allows him to move and react with incredible speed.
