Before fans get excited, no, that Season 2 trailer of Heaven Official's Blessing isn't a new trailer.
The official Heaven Official's Blessing English account uploaded the promotional video for the second season of Heaven Official's Blessing. But fans had already seen the PV when Bilibili first released it in November 2021 as part of the platform's panel and expressed confusion at seeing the trailer again. It is possible the account uploaded the PV as a part of record-keeping since it was only created in June 2023. Most of the fans took it in stride, including one who decided to humor the account by saying, "*we will pretend this is the first time we see this pv* OMGGGG SO EXCITED HUALIAN MY LOVEEEE."
The Trailer Did Not Introduce Xie Lian's New Voice Actor
Some fans were disappointed at the account for unintentionally raising their hopes for a second PV. Other fans seized the opportunity to bombard the comments with questions on the release date of Season 2. A few fans wondered if the re-release intended to introduce fans to the new voice actor of Xie Lian, Deng Youxi, as Season 1's voice actor, Jiang Guangtao had been replaced due to "personal reasons." However, the voice of Xie Lian in the PV is still Jiang's.
The PV of the second season brings Xie Lian back into the heavenly realm, where he meets with Jun Wu, the Heavenly Emperor. Xie Lian traverses down to the Ghost City, where he meets Hua Cheng once again as the Ghost King once promised he would. In the meantime, while fans await news of a second season of Heaven Official's Blessing, the donghua's social media accounts have been keeping fans fed with the various artworks. On Crimson Rain Sought Flower's birthday on June 10, the donghua released a video and special artwork to celebrate Hua Cheng's birthday, showcasing Hua Cheng lovingly carving a statue of Xie Lian. The manhua also released a beautiful illustration of Hualian to celebrate its return.
Based on the best-selling novel series by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, the donghua adaptation of Heaven Official's Blessing aired in October 2020. Animated by Haoliners Animation League with Li Haoling directing, Heaven Official's Blessing revolves around a god named Xie Lian who has ascended to the heavens for the third time, much to the dismay of the other gods. Regardless of how he's ridiculed by everyone in all three realms, Xie Lian is unceasingly kind and will not hesitate to help anyone in need. During an investigation in the human realm, Xie Lian encounters a mysterious man in red who disappears in a cloud of butterflies as soon as Xie Lian tries to reveal his identity. Little does he know, Xie Lian will meet that man again and discover their pasts are more closely intertwined than he realized.
The first season of Heaven Official's Blessing is available on Crunchyroll. For now, since it is currently in development, fans can rewatch the first PV of Season 2 until a second one rolls around.
