Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will make its epic debut next month, and the anime celebrates the fast-approaching premiere by highlighting one of the story's powerful female characters.

Posted to the series' Twitter account, the short video showcases a pivotal moment from Nobara Kugisaki's battle with Momo Nishimiya and her flying broom. A member of the story's main trio, Nobara has become a fan favorite and an icon in the modern anime landscape as she continually confronts and breaks down antiquated and problematic gender stereotypes. Her monologue about loving herself during her fight with Momo is only one example of her feminist appeal.

This appeal has made the hammer-wielding sorcerer a common source of inspiration for creative fans. For example, Nobara and her fellow classmates, Megumi Fushiguro and Yuji Itadori, inspired a high-energy cosplay that recreated some of the dance moves from the Jujutsu Kaisen anime's first ending theme. The animation notably won the Best Ending Sequence at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2021.

First appearing in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump in March 2018, the ongoing Jujutsu Kaisen manga by Gege Akutami follows high schooler Yuji, who finds himself recruited by a group of Jujutsu Sorcerers after he consumes the withered and decayed finger of Ryomen Sukuna, the undisputed King of Curses. Chapter 226, which sees the deadly brawl between Sukuna and Satoru Gojo continue, was released on June 18; the series has entered a short hiatus with Chapter 227 scheduled to appear in Weekly Shōnen Jump's first issue in July.

Studio MAPPA's adaptation premiered in 2020 and the highly anticipated second season will be one of the headliners of the summer 2023 anime lineup. The first trailer for the new season promises a storyline filled with a mixture of brutal action and wacky comedy; it also teases the deadly confrontation between Gojo and Megumi's father, Toji Fushiguro. The most recent trailer spotlights the show's new opening theme song -- "Ao no Sumika" by Tatsuya Kitani.

Many voice actors from Season 1 have confirmed their return for Season 2, including Asami Seto as Nobara, Junya Enoki as Yuji and Yūma Uchida as Megumi. Moreover, Yūichi Nakamura and Takahiro Sakurai are reprising their roles as Gojo and his best friend-turned-enemy Suguru Getou, respectively. Takehito Koyasu has joined the cast, taking on the role of Toji.

The first season of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime is available to stream on Crunchyroll, and Akutami's manga is distributed in North America by VIZ Media.
