The Mandalorian may have done away with Giancarlo Esposito's villainous Moff Gideon but the actor is still eager to reprise the role and he has an idea for how it could be done.

Per The Wrap, Esposito insisted that while his character ultimately dies in The Mandalorian Season 3 finale, he could still return to plague Din Djarin and Grogu thanks to his secret army. "I know nothing about Season 4," Esposito said. "[Jon Favreau, creator] hasn’t tipped his hat to me. So many fans are like, 'You were a clone, right?' It could be. I trust Jon knows what he’s doing. I would love to keep dying and coming back. That’d be my favorite thing of all. There are a lot of ways to go and I’m open to whatever they have in play."

Moff Gideon has been one of the central antagonists of The Mandalorian for three seasons, initially staking his claim on Grogu's latent Force-sensitivity and seeking to harvest the child's abilities. He returns in Season 2 equipped with a deadly arsenal of mechanized Dark Troopers but is ultimately thwarted by Din Djarin's group and Luke Skywalker. He returns once again towards the end of Season 3 where it's revealed he was imprisoned for his crimes against the New Republic. Upon his escape, he declares his quest for revenge against The Mandalorian and Grogu, revealing that he's been building a small army of clones of himself.

The Mandalorian Season 4?

While details on The Mandalorian Season 4 remain scarce, Favreau insists he's taking the entire current Star Wars canon and using it to inform his storytelling. "We get to tell stories slowly. So now, as Dave [Filoni]'s doing Ahsoka, it's very much informing the writing that I'm doing for [The Mandalorian] Season 4. It becomes -- how should I put it -- more precise," the creator said. How Ahsoka will impact The Mandalorian remains unknown at this time but Lucasfilm has confirmed the Disney+ series are building up to a major film event that will reportedly focus on Grand Admiral Thrawn and his plans to rebuild the Empire.
