As fans gear up to see what Dave Filoni has in mind for his major The Mandalorian crossover movie, some of the Star Wars series stars are hesitant to even ask if they're in the film.

Speaking to The Wrap, Carl Weathers and Katee Sackhoff, who play Greef Karga and Bo-Katan Kryze, respectively, don't know if they'll appear in the film but they'd rather stay in the dark than be disappointed. "I would not bother [Filoni] with that at all. And it’s simple. Who wants to be rejected?" Weathers said. "I don’t want to ask for rejection. Better to not be in it and just roll with that than to, 'May I have some more please, sir?'"

This strategy was echoed by Sackhoff who noted that if she's asked to don her Mandalorian armor for the movie, she'll happily return. "I tend to agree with Carl. If my phone rings, great, if not, they know how much we all want to be a part of it," said the Bo-Katan actor. At the time of writing, details on Filoni's upcoming are still extremely scarce but reports suggest the film will heavily focus on the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn, who is expected to play a key role in the Ahsoka series which is slated to premiere on Disney+ in later 2023.

Building to a Major Star Wars Event

Filoni himself has admitted that the goal with the various Star Wars Disney+ series was to focus on establishing a foundation before eventually uniting them into a much bigger narrative. "A New Hope, Empire and Return Of The Jedi tell the important parts of the tale that really define the history of the period," said the writer and creator. "There are all kinds of sub-stories underneath that. We’ve been building all these small stories." Filoni went on to say that while the series flesh out the sprawling sci-fi universe, the films need to focus on major events, such as the destruction of the Death Star. "You’re looking for those moments that define an era, and that’s what the films really should be about – whether it’s characters coming together, or a defining moment," he said.

As for when fans can expect to see the currently untitled Mandalorian movie, Disney and Lucasfilm have yet to nail down a release window. In the interim, all seasons of The Mandalorian can be seen on Disney+.
