New Comics This Week From DC: June 27, 2023

Peacemaker and his new partner, Peacewrecker, cross paths with Team Arrow in DC's new comics this week.

Peacewrecker made her first appearance at the end of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7, and is working for Amanda Waller alongside Peacemaker. On Tuesday, in Green Arrow #3 by writer Joshua Williamson and artist Sean Izaaske, the two face off against Arsenal/Roy Harper and Black Canary/Dinah Lance. These heroes are after Waller since she appears to be responsible for the disappearance of Green Arrows Oliver Queen and Connor Hawke, as well as Roy's daughter, Lian Harper. While Peacewrecker also appeared in the prior Dawn of DC Primer Special Edition #1, Green Arrow allows readers to see more of the character and how she fares against a superhero.

As for Action Comics, the series is wrapping up its first Dawn of DC arc involving the villains Metallo/John Corben and Cyborg Superman/Hank Henshaw. This main story in Action Comics #1056 is by writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson, artists Rafa Sandoval and Max Raynor. Metallo and Superman Clark Kent have teamed up to save the villain's sister, Tracy Corben, but the prior issue ended with the reveal that Tracy is now another cyborg slave serving Henshaw. This arc ends along with the anthology issue's three-part backup story focusing on Steel/John Henry Irons, which leads into DC's Steelworks miniseries.

Meanwhile, another DC series is coming to an end: Tim Drake: Robin. Launched in Sep. 2022, the series was canceled in March alongside Batgirls, which released its final issue last week. Tim Drake: Robin focuses on the titular Bat-Family hero after his coming out as bisexual in Batman: Urban Legends' "Sum of Our Parts" story, as well as the one-shot DC Pride: Tim Drake Special and miniseries Dark Crisis: Young Justice. Writer Meghan Fitzmartin has been the creative mind working on Tim Drake since his coming out, and she now scribes the concluding Tim Drake: Robin #10 alongside artist Nikola Čižmešija.
