Netflix has just dropped a new teaser for The Witcher Season 3, offering another look at star Henry Cavill's final appearance as Geralt of Rivia.

At Netflix's TUDUM event, Witcher fans saw what will signal Henry Cavill's final portrayal Geralt of Rivia in a nearly 3-minute teaser filled with action. The teaser opens with Cirilla (Freya Allan) seemingly cornered by Rience and his cronies before turning the tables with her battle prowess. This is before both Geralt and Yennefer (played by Anya Chalotra) arrive to back her up after regaining her magic in Season 2.

The teaser appears to offer a glimpse at what Cavill promised would be more Blaviken-esque fight scenes. A notable feature was the nearly 30-second uninterrupted fight sequence where Cavill demonstrates his sword proficiency and choreography. Rience was in action for the first time since Chris Fulton's recasting for Sam Woolf.

The Witcher Recasting News

But that isn't the only recasting news regarding The Witcher. After Season 3, Geralt of Rivia will be portrayed by actor Liam Hemsworth, as announced in October 2022. Season 3 is set to pick up after the last season's plot twist where Nilfgaardian emperor, Emhyr var Emreis, also known as the White Flame (Bart Edwards), is revealed to be Ciri's father, Duny. Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich promised a more faithful adaptation of the books, as well as going some way to redeem Yennefer in Geralt's eyes after her betrayal in season 2.

At the current time, it is uncertain why Netflix and Cavill parted ways for The Witcher, though numerous reports and rumors suggest the cause was creative differences. None of those officially involved have provided any details to the public. Hissrich recently commented on the upcoming change, stating, "It was time for him in his life to move on."

The show is set to introduce several characters from Andrzej Sapkowski's Time of Contempt, including Milva, set to be played by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Meng'er Zhang. Additional stars joining Season 3 are Robbie Amell, Hugh Skinner and Michalina Olszańska. Reprising their roles in The Witcher alongside Cavill, Chalotra and Allen are Eamon Farren as Cahir, Joey Batey as Jaskier, MyAnna Buring as Tissaia de Vries, Mimi Khayisa playing Fringilla, Anna Shaffer playing Triss Merigold, Royce Pierreson as Istredd, Wilson Mbomio as Dara and Mahesh Jadu as Vilgefortz of Roggeveen.

The Witcher Season 3: Part 1 will be available to stream via Netflix on June 29, 2023, and Part 2 will premiere on July 27, 2023.
