The cast of Netflix's The Witcher is gearing up for Liam Hemsworth's Geralt and while they're all very exciting, it will seemingly be a strange time.

Per ComicBook, Joey Batey (Jaskier), Freya Allen (Ciri) and Anya Chalotra (Yennefer) were asked about their feelings on star Henry Cavill's departure and whether or not this was impacting their preparation for Season 4. "Excited. Yeah, can't wait to have Liam on board. Well, he is, but to meet him and have him as Geralt," Chalotra said. "It's going to be bizarre, and I feel like I'm definitely going to feel that loss. I think we all will." The actor goes on to say that Cavill was a major part of the series but his loss has not diminished her enthusiasm for the show's future.

Batey elaborated further on Cavill's impact on the series, admitting that while he's excited for Hemsworth's take on Geralt, he'll also miss Cavill's off-camera presence. "Behind the scenes, he's always just been very, very supportive and funny, good-natured professional who was always the first to laugh on those bad days and to crack jokes, and that presence is cemented in the DNA of the show," the actor continued.

A Tale of Two Geralts

Netflix shocked fans in late 2022 when it revealed that The Witcher Season 3 will be Cavill's last time playing the titular character of Geralt, revealing that Hemsworth will be taking over the mantle for any future seasons. Many have expressed disappointment in the decision as the ex-Superman actor has garnered substantial praise for his gruff monster slayer. Speaking about the change, producer Steve Gaub revealed that fans needn't be skeptical as the actor switch will seemingly be "flawless" in how it's pulled from Andrzej Sapkowski's novels. "It's very lore accurate. It's very close to what was set out in the books... it will be a new Geralt, it will be a new face for this character and I think it will also be very, very exciting to see," Gaub said.

As for The Witcher's future, Netflix has already confirmed that Season 5 is happening with Hemsworth continuing on as Geralt. In contrast to previous installments, Seasons 4 and 5 are being filmed back-to-back, a decision that has left some fans concerned the story will soon conclude. At the time of writing, Netflix has yet to address these claims.

The Witcher Season 3 Vol. 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
