The following contains spoilers for Secret Invasion Episode 2, "Promises," now streaming on Disney+.

The latest episode of Secret Invasion just confirmed that Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) is married in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

At the end of "Promises," the second episode of the Disney+ limited series, Nick Fury enters a house that is occupied by a lone individual: a female Skrull who transforms into a middle-aged black woman after hearing Fury walk through the front door. After the woman asks Fury if he is forgetting something, the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D. puts on a wedding band, implying that the two are married. They then passionately kiss as the episode fades to the credits.

Fury's wife, Priscilla, is played by Charlayne Woodard in "Promises," an actor who is perhaps best known for her recurring roles in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Chicago Hope, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Mayfair Witches. Priscilla was first mentioned by Fury in the 2014 film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, during a conversation with Steve Rogers. At the time, fans were unsure if Fury's wife was real or not given that he used her to explain to Steve why he needed to crash at his apartment so that Hydra -- who had bugged the room -- wouldn't be suspicious of the visit.

Does Priscilla Fury Have a Comic Book Counterpart?

Nick Fury has had several romantic relationships within the pages of Marvel Comics since his debut in Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos #1 (1963). These include S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (played by Julia Louis Dreyfus in the MCU), weapons smuggler Amber D’Alexis and CIA operative Nia Jones. He also had an ex-wife in the Ultimate Universe named Monica Chang. However, none of his love interests was called Priscilla or was a Skrull, meaning that there is no comic book counterpart for the MCU Nick Fury's wife.

Secret Invasion is inspired by the popular 2008 Marvel Comics storyline of the same name, following Nick Fury as he learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a radicalized faction of Skrulls -- shapeshifting green-skinned extra-terrestrials that were introduced into the MCU in 2019's Captain Marvel. Kingsley Ben-Adir stars as the rebellious Skrulls' leader, Gravik. Other actors that appear in Secret Invasion include Don Cheadle as Colonel James Rhodes, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Emilia Clarke as Talos' daughter G'iah and Olivia Colman as MI6 agent Sonya Falsworth, among others.
