Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny stars Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Mads Mikkelsen recently revealed which of the upcoming blockbuster's iconic props they'd like to own.

The trio weighed up whether they'd want Indiana Jones' hat, jacket or gun in an interview with Variety. Ford and Mikkelsen both selected the hat, while Waller-Bridge added a fourth item into the mix: Indy's bullwhip. "Mads said hat because he's already got a whip," she quipped. "With the whip, I can get things from further away. Your hat can't do anything. You're constantly losing your hat and having to get it. I could get your hat with my whip."

Waller-Bridge's choice of prop will likely further fuel speculation that Lucasfilm intends to continue the Indiana Jones franchise via a spinoff movie headlined by her character, Helena Shaw. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy acknowledged that a side project focused on Indiana Jones' goddaughter was "entirely possible" in a recent interview, although she also made it clear that such a project was yet to be properly discussed, much less greenlit. In the same interview, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director James Mangold insisted he won't be the one to helm the Helena Shaw spinoff, in the event it does indeed happen.

Harrison Ford Says Goodbye to Indiana Jones

Mangold taking his name out of the running for the hypothetical production reflects Harrison Ford's own disinterest in taking part in another Indiana Jones installment. The Hollywood legend has repeatedly stated that Dial of Destiny will mark his final outing as Indiana Jones, and recently indicated that has no misgivings about bidding farewell to the intrepid archaeologist. "I don't think I'm gonna miss anything [about playing Indiana Jones]," Ford said. "I appreciate all of the opportunities the character has given me."

Kennedy previously promised fans that Lucasfilm has no intention of recasting the Indiana Jones role, although she also suggested the franchise could survive Ford's departure. "I mean, truthfully, right now, if we were to do anything, it might be in series television down the road, but we're not doing anything to replace Indiana Jones. This is it. There are five movies that Harrison Ford did. And Harrison is so specific and so unique to creating this role. We just, Steven [Spielberg] agrees, we just wouldn't do that," Kennedy said.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny arrives in cinemas on June 30, 2023.
