For some time, fans have been eagerly waiting on Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. It's not just about the treasure-hunting nostalgia. A lot of the anticipation has to do with this being the last time Harrison Ford dons the iconic jacket, hat and whip. This presents an opportunity for fans of the '80s to help the new generation connect to one of pop culture's greatest heroes once more.

More so, Disney has an opportunity to fix the mistakes made with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, giving the hero a proper sendoff. Interestingly, some folks are wondering if the film will have a post-credits scene teasing the future of Indy's goddaughter, Helena, and if she takes the mantle up, or if there'll just be a running gag or sentimental scene acting as a swan song for Indy's retirement.

Indiana Jones 5 Does Not Have a Post-Credits Scene

The post-credits and mid-credits stingers in modern movies were revived by Marvel Studios. Most of the studio's films and shows employ this tactic to further the narrative, per The Avengers and Thanos feud. DC also employed post-credits scenes, with The Flash recently having Barry Allen and Aquaman leaving a bar.

Mainstream Hollywood franchises use tacked-on sequences, too. Fast X had a post-credits scene where Luke Hobbs returned, while Transformers: Rise of the Beasts added a mid-credits to revive Mirage. That said, some films, whether comic book-related or not, opt against the trope. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse didn't have a post-credits, for example. Well, Dial of Destiny follows suit, mimicking the trend of past Indy movies, as there's nothing once the credits start rolling. As such, fans can head to the exits, washrooms or concessions, knowing the story has been fully wrapped.

What to Expect in Indiana Jones 5

Jurgen Voller in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Indy's past journeys have seen him hunting artifacts that offer immense power and this film is no different. It revolves around him going after something that can actually bend space and time. This is the Archimedes Dial, which allows its wielder to time travel and become a veritable god. Indy recruits Helena for the mission, leading to them opposing Mads Mikkelsen's Jürgen Volle, a former Nazi who's now running a space project for NASA.

It'll test Indy personally, as his teaching career has been deemed obsolete by the very Americans he fought for. Plus, he'll be ticked off his government colluded with someone he battled in the name of liberty. As for Helena, despite not being a fan of Indy, she's poised to understand the hero he truly is, what sacrifices he made to save the world, and in the process, learn from this last hurrah. This way, Indy can hopefully hand his legacy down and help the scholarly Helena unlock her own fate.

It's the perfect passing of the baton, against domestic enemies and the Nazis Indy hates most. This adventure's honestly the perfect way to end his tenure. Indy, after all, has been a man about principle, and Ford has already made it clear this is the last time he'll participate in this rodeo. Ultimately, Helena helping Indy out will remind fans to always stand in the face of adversity.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny arrives in cinemas on June 30.
