Fox Teases The Interrogation Room and Reflects on Kill Bill]]> Over the years, plenty of crime shows have highlighted the challenges faced by law enforcement in their pursuit of justice. There's plenty of drama inherent to the premise, leading to a litany of scripted and unscripted programs focusing on the interplay between the two sides of the same coin. The Interrogation Room focuses on the real stories that happen behind the scenes of investigations and the ways officers try to uncover evidence and unearth culprits.

They've produced impressive pieces of animation like The Breadwinner, Wolfwalkers, and their latest co-production, My Father's Dragon. The sweet-natured film focuses on the efforts of Elmer (Jacob Tremblay) and his newfound friend, Boris the Dragon (Gaten Matarazzo), to save the island they're trapped on and confront the true perils of growing up in a dangerous world.

<![CDATA[INTERVIEW: Roll7's Simon Bennett Talks OlliOlli World]]> Skateboarding games are often thought of in the context of simulation, or at least in the context of the real-world. While a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is less grounded than Skater XL, for instance, it's still trying to create an experience parallel to actual skateboarding, just in an arcade context. Those connotations are completely upended by OlliOlli World, a indie game that successfully takes skateboarding into the realm of the surreal.

<![CDATA[Superboys: Bendis Explains Aging Jon Kent, and Conner's Return]]> For the better part of a century, the concept of Superboy has been explored through far more characters than the Man of Steel alone. For decades, Superboy was merely a teenage Clark Kent, but in the 1990s and early 2000s, that role belonged to Kon-El, aka Conner Kent, a clone created from the combined DNA from Superman and Lex Luthor. But after that character was killed (and later reinvented for the new 52), a new incarnation of the character arrived in the form of Jonathan Kent, the son of Clark and Lois Lane.

<![CDATA[Spider-Man: Homecoming Star Wants Evil Ned Leeds]]> Jacob Batalon will be making his big screen debut when Spider-Man: Homecoming premieres on July 7. The young actor plays Peter Parker’s best friend Ned Leeds, who discovers Peter’s been keeping a certain secret from him in the film. It’s a different path for a character that has, in the past, traditionally been portrayed as a reporter working with Peter at the Daily Bugle before eventually becoming Hobgoblin. It’s a change that works well for a movie centered more on Peter in high school than we’ve seen previously, and Batalon seems to be the perfect fit for the role as Peter's loyal and trusted friend.

Blade of the Immortal, Hiroaki Samura's samurai tale, reaches the end of its long run this week with the publication of Volume 31. Dark Horse began publishing the series in 1996, at a time when manga was not only flipped but chopped into single-issue comics. The world has changed a lot since then, and so has Blade. Samura spent almost 20 years writing and drawing the series, and his storytelling style evolved quite a bit over the years.

It's always a good sign, and a rare blessing, when you close a comic and say to yourself, "Well, I've certainly never seen anything like that before." Such was my reaction to Garden, the upcoming PictureBox graphic novel from acclaimed manga artist Yuichi Yokoyama (currently in Previews for a May 4 release; Diamond code MAR111221). Sure, this is the same guy who made guys throwing books at one another as exciting a fight scene as anything out of Kill Bill in his collection New Engineering. It's the same guy who made a bunch of dudes taking a ride on the train as thrilling as Jack Kirby drawing someone hijacking the Moebius Chair and going on a joyride through Apokalips in his book Travel. But Garden takes Yokoyama's unique combination of deadpan characters, robotically clean lines, zany costumes, epic sets and scenery, and hyper-caffeinated action to a whole new level. It's like a magical mental amusement park.

<![CDATA[The end of history: An interview with Larry Gonick]]> For the past 30 or so years, Larry Gonick has been engaged in what has to easily be one of the most ambitious comics projects ever: The Cartoon History of the Universe. In four volumes (including Vol. 1 of The Cartoon History of the Modern World), Gonick has relentlessly relayed the history of planet Earth as we know it, from the big bang up to the the 1700s. That he's done so in such a consistently entertaining and downright funny fashion, is nothing short of remarkable, especially considering the plethora of dull, insipid nonfiction comics that have come out in the past few years.

Tablets | Gizmodo reports on the long-rumored Apple Tablet device, saying that Apple "is in talks with several media companies rooted in print, negotiating content for a 'new device.'" In addition, Apple has also applied for a patent on a "multi-touch surface that could accommodate two full hands and distinguish between palms and individual fingers for typing, gestures and more," according to the Apple Insider.

<![CDATA[Alan Moore gives blessing to Miracleman reprints]]> In an interview with Kurt Amacker for Mania, Alan Moore discussed in detail his feelings towards Marvel's purchase of the Marvelman character and the chance of ever seeing his own version of the character in print again. In a nutshell: He's fine with it all as long as his name is kept off the credits and the character's original creator, Mick Anglo, gets to keep all the money:

<![CDATA[Jamie S. Rich | Comics, Prose and Crime: A chat with Chris A. Bolton]]>

Chris A. Bolton is relatively new on the comics scene, but the Portland-based writer is in the process of finishing the first run of his successful super-powered humor series, the online comic Smash (http://smashcomic.com/), drawn by his brother Kyle Bolton. Chris is also a filmmaker and a prose writer, and the fact that both he and I contributed a story to the pulpy literary anthology Portland Noir (Akashic Books, 2009) seemed like a good enough excuse for us to sit and chat. Especially since we're two guys who cross back and forth between media--in fact, his story in Portland Noir, "The Red Room," is prose, as is to be expected in the Akashic Noir series, while the story Joëlle Jones and I contributed, "Gone Doggy Gone," is comics, a rarity for the venue. Of course, these are topics we cover in the conversation, so without further ado....

It's called Zudist Colony (thanks to Jeff Mccomsey for the name), and the idea is to interview all the contestants in Zuda's monthly competition.
