Gotham Knights star Misha Collins recently shared his thoughts on the DC superhero drama's cancellation.

The actor, who portrays Gotham City District Attorney Harvey Dent on the show, released a statement on Twitter where he expressed disappointment in having his time playing the iconic DC character cut short. "Just got back on the grid after unplugging for a week to hear the news that [Gotham Knights] was canceled by [The CW] and won’t be able to find a new home," Collins' statement read. "I’m incredibly bummed, and selfishly disappointed to not be able to fully explore my 'villain arc,' but I’m proud of the show we made and so grateful to have been able to work with such a smart, caring, good group of people."

He continued, "I'm especially proud that our story about fighting the good fight also gave us opportunities to tell diverse and inclusive stories. We need more of that on screen, and while this story may not be going forward, I really believe it helped open that door a little wider for more characters from all backgrounds to shine. Thank you, #BatBrats, for your full-throated support. The show may be ending, but I know this community will keep the light shining against the darkness in the real world. Onward!"

Gotham Knights Fans Mourn Series' Cancellation

Gotham Knights was axed by The CW in June 2023. The series joins a string of recent cancellations from the network that include The Winchesters, Kung Fu and Walker: Independence. The cancellation didn't entirely come as a shock to critics and fans as the show had been receiving poor reviews and low viewership since its premiere in March 2023. However, Gotham Knights had managed to develop a small, but passionate fan base who lamented the cancellation on social media, with many writing that the show offered them "something special" that was absent in other DC TV offerings.

The final two episodes of Gotham Knights -- "City of Owls" and "Night of the Owls" -- air on The CW on June 20 and June 27, respectively.
