Good Omens executive producer Neil Gaiman revealed that the storyline for the upcoming Season 2 of the hit Prime Video series will take place several years after the first installment.

On his Tumblr, a fan asked Gaiman if Good Omens 2 would immediately start off its story following the ending of Season 1, or if it would feature a significant time jump. Gaiman clarified that viewers will meet Aziraphale and Crowley again four years after they’ve successfully prevented Armageddon and cleverly evaded their heavenly and hellish deaths. As seen in the official Good Omens trailer, the next chapter will see the unlikely duo teaming up again to solve the mystery surrounding Archangel Gabriel's disappearance from Heaven.

A Challenging Season For Jon Hamm’s Angel Gabriel

Gaiman previously teased Angel Gabriel's expanded role in Good Omens Season 2, revealing that the Mad Men actor had a challenging filming experience this season compared to the first installment. "There are things that I have done to Jon Hamm, or have other people do, or that have happened to Jon Hamm in the second season of Good Omens that while I’m not at liberty to actually reveal what they are, I will say that I’m in many ways glad he’s not sitting opposite me," he said.

Good Omens is based on Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's 1990 novel Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch. For the next season, the fantasy comedy will go beyond its original source material to tell a whole new original story, which Gaiman notes he had a wonderful time writing. According to the official synopsis for Season 2, Aziraphale and Crowley's easy life on Earth has once again been upended with the unexpected arrival of an amnesiac archangel, Gabriel.

Alongside Hamm, long-time collaborators Michael Sheen and David Tennant will return to reprise their fan-favorite roles as angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley. They will be joined by an ensemble of new and familiar characters such as Doon Mackichan as Archangel Michael, Gloria Obianyo as Archangel Uriel, Miranda Richardson as the demon Shax, Maggie Service as record store owner Maggie, Nina Sosanya as Nina, Liz Carr as the angel Saraqael, and more. Other than Hamm, Sheen and Tennant, Mackichan and Obianyo were the only returning cast members who are returning for their Season 1 roles.

Ahead of the premiere of Good Omens Season 2 on July 28, Amazon Studios has partnered with Renegade Game Studios for the launch of Good Omens' very own tie-in tabletop card game, called Good Omens: An Ineffable Game. Sold in three different versions, the game is now available for purchase.
