My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! has unveiled a teaser trailer for its upcoming animated film.
A movie for My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! had been announced as early as September 2021 after the second season ended, but since then, not much information has been revealed, except for a teaser visual to accompany the announcement. The official accounts for My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! or HameFura, for short, has revealed a new teaser trailer and key visual for the film. The movie will feature an original story written by the light novel author Satoru Yamaguchi with Maaya Uchida reprising her role as Catarina Claes. Silver Link will produce the film with Keisuke Inoue directing.
My Next Life as a Villainess' Many Adaptations
A light novel series written by Satoru Yamaguchi and illustrated by Nami Hidaka, My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! began serialization online in July 2014 before Ichijinsha acquired the series, resulting in its first print publication in August 2015. J-Novel Club has licensed the light novels in English and currently has 11 volumes out. The light novel series received a manga adaptation with Hidaka as the artist in August 2017 and has since been licensed in English by Seven Seas Entertainment.
The series has inspired an anime adaptation, and the first season aired from April to June 2020, with Silver Link helming the animation and production. A second season aired from July to September 2021, titled My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! X with 12 episodes and an OVA. Aside from Uchida, Shouta Aoi joins the cast as the voice of Catarina's fiancé Geordo Stuart and Tetsuya Kakihara as Catarina's adoptive brother Keith Claes, Miho Okasaki as Mary Hunt and Inori Minase as Sophia Ascart, both of whom act as Catarina's rivals.
My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! spans multiple genres, including isekai, fantasy, reverse harem and romance comedy. The series follows a 17-year-old otaku high schooler who reincarnates into the villain character Catarina Claes from the otome game Fortune Lover. Unfortunately for Catarina, she's screwed from the beginning because no matter what route the player in the game takes, she will die or get exiled. Despite how hopeless her circumstances seem, Catarina resolves to avoid her seemingly doomed fate. She begins to establish good connections with the other characters, consequently causing the other characters to fall in love with her, unbeknownst to her.
The My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! film premieres in Japan on Dec. 8, 2023.
