Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia has audiences thoroughly invested in Izuku "Deku" Midoriya's journey from Quirkless optimist into the world's number one hero. The superpowers that aid My Hero Academia's many characters are known as Quirks and the anime showcases dozens of unique abilities.

Some of these Quirks are more practical than others, while certain powers are more acquired tastes and appear to be more of a burden than a benefit. My Hero Academia continues to deconstruct Quirks in exciting ways. There are many powerful Quirks at these characters' disposal, but it's just as important to examine some of the series' weakest female Quirk users.

10 Tatami Nakagame

Tatami Nagagame retracts into her body with her Telescopic Quirk in My Hero Academia

There are some Quirks in My Hero Academia that defy comprehension. Tatami Nakagame is a confident third-year student at U.A. High's competition, Ketsubutsu Academy High School, which means that audiences only get a brief glimpse of her and her powers.

Nakagame's Telescopic Quirk could be implemented in a number of different ways, but My Hero Academia turns this budding hero into a turtle-like oddity. Nakagame uses her Quirk to restrict the length of body parts as they retract into her body. She can drastically reduce her mass, but she looks like an embarrassing mess and not a covert Quirk user.

9 Yui Kodai

Yui Kodai uses her Size Quirk in My Hero Academia.

Yui Kodai is another overlooked Class 1-B student who really steps up her game during the Joint Training competition but still falls short when she faces Class 1-A's Uraraka. Kodai's Size Quirk allows her to alter the size of any object that she comes in contact with, including herself.

Size can be useful in specific situations, but it's only as reliable as its user. Kodai is an enthusiastic student, but not one who is ever shown to dominate the battlefield. She's not even the strongest character when it comes to size-based Quirks, with Mt. Lady being Kodai's superior.

8 Toru Hagakure

Toru Hagakure wears cheerleading outfit for Sports Festival in My Hero Academia anime.

Invisibility is a common superpower in comics and so it makes sense for someone in My Hero Academia to carry such stealth skills. Toru Hagakure is U.A. High's Invisible Girl, but the anime treats her more like a silly sight gag than a viable ally in battle. Invisibility does lack any physical strength, but it's the perfect camouflage when in the right hands.

Hagakure's invisibility is so valuable that My Hero Academia avoids directly using the character rather than figuring out how to incorporate her specific skill set into battle. There's so much potential in Hagakure, but it's doubtful that she'll fully come into her own in My Hero Academia.

7 Kyoka Jiro

Kyoka Jiro dramatically cries in My Hero Academia

Kyoka Jiro gets to truly prove her utility to her U.A. High friends during Class 1-A's rocking musical performance. Jiro naturally gravitates towards music due to her unusual Earphone Jack Quirk, which she's gradually learned to love over time.

Earphone Jack's subtlety gives Jiro excellent eavesdropping skills that have helped the heroes out several times in battle. That being said, Jiro understands where her assets lie and that she and her Quirk are better suited for backup support and reconnaissance rather than leading the way against the League of Villains.

6 Pony Tsunotori

My Hero Academia establishes that Quirks are present across the entire world. Pony Tsunotori is originally from America but joins U.A. High as a transfer student. Pony prominently sports horns on her head, which are a major component of her Horn Cannon Quirk. Pony's Quirk turns these pointy appendages into airborne projectiles that can do decent damage if they make contact.

Pony has the potential to be a great Pro Hero, but she fails to exhibit the instinct necessary to grow in her field. If anything, Pony is happy to use her language skills to help in a communication capacity rather than depending upon the power of her Quirk.

5 Sirius

Sirius holds up drinks in My Hero Academia.

A wide range of aquatically-advantaged characters exist in My Hero Academia and it's exciting to see them come together on the Oki Mariner. Captain Selkie's ship becomes an ideal work-study for characters like Tsuyu Asui. Sirius is Selkie's second in command, but her skills are more tactical than aggressive in nature.

Sirius and her Good Ear Quirk turn her distinct webbed ears into unparalleled sonar. Someone like Sirius is vital on the Oki Mariner, yet she knows to hold back and let Selkie deliver the pain when the time comes.

4 Manami "La Brava" Aiba

La Brava works a video camera in My Hero Academia

Gentle Criminal and La Brava are controversial characters who occupy the tail-end of My Hero Academia's fourth season in the shadow of Overhaul's defeat. These two are more misguided than outright evil, but their codependency still causes a lot of chaos.

Manami Aiba is a young girl who becomes inspired by Gentle Criminal and goes on to play a crucial role in his temporary success as a villain. Under the moniker of La Brava, Aiba's Love Quirk will amplify the strength of whoever she admires. This boosts Gentle Criminal's abilities, but it's a Quirk that's useless on its own and is all about empowering others while La Brava remains weak.

3 Mina Ashido

Mina Ashido flashes a thumbs up after battle in My Hero Academia

When it comes to My Hero Academia's top female Class 1-A students, Mina Ashido routinely fails to receive the same acclaim as Ochaco Uraraka or Tsuyu Asui. Mina Ashido's Acid Quirk sounds cool in concept, but it lacks the power that one expects. It takes Ashido a lot of work to upgrade her Quirk, which is no small feat, but she's still far away from melting villains with projectile acid.

Ashido's unique look makes her a popular character to be present in group scenes and along the sidelines. However, audiences are well past the point of expecting that Ashido and her Acid Quirk will deliver the finishing blow in battle.

2 Nemuri "Midnight" Kayama

Midnight poses as her Somnambulist Quirk goes off in My Hero Academia

Pro Heroes are revered and trusted figures in My Hero Academia's society. However, there are some individuals who aren't afraid to lean into fan service and the more titillating aspects of heroism and costumes.

Nemuri Kayama, better known under her Pro Hero alias, Midnight, embraces a tough dominatrix aesthetic so that she can whip crime into shape. Midnight's Somnambulist Quirk that makes her targets fall asleep is actually quite dangerous. It's just unfortunate that she's become a figure that's ogled by U.A. High's male student body.

1 Eri

Midoriya attempts to protect Eri from Overhaul in My Hero Academia

Eri's torturous childhood pushes Midoriya and Mirio Togata to surpass their limits and do whatever it takes to defeat Kai Chisaki and his villainous minions. Eri's Rewind Quirk is abused by Overhaul to forge Quirk-Erasing Bullets and Midoriya later makes creative use of Eri's Quirk to maintain peak strength.

There's a lot of variety in how Eri can use her Quirk, but she's still just a fragile child who is making sense of the world, let alone her powers. Although Overhaul proves how Rewind can be a devastating Quirk, Eri isn't the type to abuse this ability or exploit it to turn her enemies into infants.
