Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia remains one of the most popular shonen series of this generation and its fandom seems to grow more passionate with each passing year. My Hero Academia has hundreds of individuals – both heroes and villains alike – who all have diverse Quirks, which aid them in battle. The bulk of the planet’s population have Quirks, but these superpowers come in many different shapes and sizes.

Some Quirks are subtle and are barely telegraphed, while other individuals literally wear their powers on their sleeves. “Heteromorphs” are a specific brand of My Hero Academia character whose Quirks give them distinct physical appearances, which typically causes them to look irregular. It’s important to not judge a book by its cover, and these genetically-transformed individuals still have a lot to offer in My Hero Academia.

10 Kenji Tsuragamae

Kenji Tsuragamae gives a thumbs up in My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia exists in a world where superheroes and villains are commonplace, but there's still a conventional police force that exists in addition to the Hero Public Safety Commission. Kenji Tsuragamae is an important individual considering that he's Japan's chief of police and carries a lot of responsibility on his shoulders.

Anyone who's ever met Tsuragamae is surely aware of the comprehensive Quirk that affects his appearance. Kenji Tsuragamae's specific Quirk is unknown, but his ability causes him to look like an anthropomorphic dog. It's likely that Tsuragamae does have other dog-based perks like heightened smell or speed, but he's instead content to maintain the peace in a supervisory capacity.

9 Godzillo

Godzillo explores I-Island in My Hero Academia: Two Heroes

Godzillo seems like he should be one of the most substantial Quirk users in My Hero Academia, but his appearance is contained to a fairly silly visual gag in the first My Hero Academia feature film, Two Heroes. During Midoriya and Melissa Shield's exploration of I-Island, they encounter Godzillo, an enormous hero who started in Japan before receiving a more international reputation.

Godzillo's appropriately named Toho Quirk means that he must always stay in this gigantic Kaiju state rather than it being a transformation that he can trigger at will. It's even implied that Godzillo is actually the "actor" who's portrayed Godzilla in dozens of feature films.

8 Susugu “Wash” Mitarai

Laundry Hero: Wash gets shocked over news in My Hero Academia

The advent of the Pro Hero Billboard Charts gives the public, and My Hero Academia's viewers, an easy shorthand to identify who's supposed to be the best of the best. Susugu Mitarai, better known as Laundry Hero: Wash, looks like a washing machine that's somehow come to life.

Wash's Clean Bubbler Quirk gives Mitarai the ability to release durable bubbles that can give people flight or become a rudimentary form of protection. Other heroes have similar Quirks, albeit with a less jarring physical appearance. Many may discourage a mobile washing machine from fighting crime, but Wash's ranking as Japan's No. 8 Pro Hero is a testament to his skills and strength.

7 Manga Fukidashi

Manga Fukidashi breathes out a speech bubble in My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia is no stranger to tongue-in-cheek comedy and Manga "Comicman" Fukidashi is easily one of the sillier heteromorph heroes to come out of the series. Cutting his teeth as one of U.A. High's trusted Class 1-B pupils, Fukidashi's Comic Quirk allows him to essentially generate weaponized thought bubbles, like the ones seen in comics and manga.

These attacks are quite surreal to witness and Fukidashi's appearance is equally unnerving. Fukidashi's body is largely human, but his head is a perpetual thought bubble that's tethered to his neck.

6 Mina Ashido

Mina Ashido exuberantly reacts in My Hero Academia

Mina Ashido is one of the first real friends that Midoriya meets at U.A. High and she continues to prove herself as a powerful Class 1-A student with tons of potential. Ashido's Acid Generation Quirk sounds quite vicious, but contact with the hero's ability isn't going to immediately melt her target.

There's appealing power in Ashido's Quirk, but the character is even more interesting because of her atypical design. Ashido looks more like a space alien than a Japanese high schooler. Pink skin, horn-like ears, and other anomalies make Mina Ashido quite unusual.

5 Shuichi “Spinner” Iguchi

Spinner grins over his villainous scheme in My Hero Academia

Shuichi Iguchi is one of My Hero Academia's more distinguished villains due to his unmistakable reptilian appearance. Operating under the name, Spinner, Iguchi initially seems like Horikoshi's playful parody of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Spinner's Gecko Quirk is a permanent condition that makes him look like one giant lizard, but he's at least able to stick to surfaces and adopt other gecko traits. Spinner is both a smart strategist and a valuable villain who initially rose through the ranks of Shigaraki's League of Villains before joining the rejuvenated efforts of the Paranormal Liberation Front.

4 Fumikage Tokoyami

Fumikage Tokoyami uses Dark Shadow Quirk in battle in My Hero Academia

Fumikage Tokoyami has stood out since his first appearance in U.A. High's Class 1-A and he's only matured into a stronger hero. Now operating with the intense title of Jet-Black Hero: Tsukuyomi, Tokoyami is on the fast track to Pro status. Tokoyami's Dark Shadow Quirk is quite unique since it basically gives him an unofficial partner.

Tokoyami can manipulate his living shadow to dominate in either close-range or spread out conflicts. Many of Tokoyami's opponents are transfixed on his Dark Shadow rather than the hero that's behind it, who happens to have the head of a crow. It's a jarring look, but one that Tokoyami's 1-A classmates quickly look past.

3 Cementoss

Cementoss manipulates cement with his Quirk in My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia packs a lot of nuance into its characters – even those who initially come across as stereotypes – and so a lumbering sentient cement slab can passionately teach literature at U.A. High. Pro Hero Cementoss' real name is Ken Ishiyama, but the individual's Cement Quirk makes it much easier to remember his heroic alias.

Ishiyama can manipulate cement structures simply by making contact with them. This can be debilitating during any city-set battle and Cementoss has only become more proficient with his Quirk. Cementoss doesn't look particularly friendly thanks to his cold, sterile cement look, but he's a softy where it counts, inside.

2 Kamui Woods

Kamui Woods extends his Arbor Quirk during battle in My Hero Academia

Shinji Nishiya's Arbor Quirk is an incredibly advantageous power that's helped him climb the ranks of Pro Hero Society and attain the impressive position of the No. 7 Pro Hero. Under the name, Kamui Woods, Nishiya uses his Arbor Quirk to extend his wooden body parts into expansive tree branches.

This power makes Kamui Woods quite versatile, whether he's in charge of apprehending a suspect or blocking an exit. Kamui Woods' strength is never in question and the nature of his Quirk shouldn't come as a surprise since he practically looks like My Hero Academia's version of Groot. Nishiya is human, but he frequently looks like he's more tree than man.

1 Gang Orca

Gang Orca uses the supersonic abilities of his Quirk in My Hero Academia

Kugo Sakamata is a Pro Hero who's learned to make the most out of his severe Orcinus Quirk, which essentially gives the individual the boosted abilities of a killer whale. Operating under the name Gang Orca, Sakamata is an extremely reliable hero whether he's on land or his natural aquatic environment.

Gang Orca is practically unstoppable when he's in water, but serious strength, endurance, and supersonic skills give him a healthy edge on land, too. The appearance of a killer whale isn't exactly subtle, but Gang Orca finds a way to make it work, whether it's through the appearance of a cape or tongue-like tie.
