The followiing contains spoilers from X-Cellent #4, on sale now from Marvel Comics.

Former X-Force leader, Zeitgeist, may have died, but death is hardly permanent in the Marvel Universe. Now the dangerous mutant is back with a new mission and a new team, the X-Cellent.

Prior to The X-Cellent #4 (by Peter Milligan and Michael Allred), the titular team broke into the Sanctum Sanctorum to steal a spell from Doctor Strange’s Book of the Vishanti that could grant Zeitgeist godhood. While their heist was successful Zeitgeist couldn’t be any less grateful for the X-Cellent's hard work. He would go around and disrespect his entire team, causing a lot of tension among its members.

Zeitgeist’s mood only worsened after he began to feel the awful side effects of the spell. Night after night he would experience seething pain. He would shriek in agony while emulating a golden glow from his chest with his fellow mutant Hurt John enjoying it and feeding off of his pain every single time he screamed.

Zeitgeist Wants to Achieve Godhood

Finally, on one fateful night, when Hurt John was about to prey upon Zeitgeist’s pain, he barges into his room and sees something shocking. Zeitgeist was floating in the air glowing. He was completely gold and told Hurt John that he has finally achieved godhood. And, when Hurt John asked him "Does it hurt?" he reveals that he no longer feels any pain.
