Captain America: Brave New World's Harrison Ford recently addressed Red Hulk's rumored appearance in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster in his own inimitable style.

Ford, who portrays Red Hulk's comic book alter-ego Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross in Brave New World, claimed not to know who the character was during an interview with ComicBook.com. "What is the Red Hulk?" he responded when asked about the scarlet-skinned behemoth's potential inclusion in the fourth solo Captain America installment. After being brought up to speed on the Red Hulk's comic book history, Ford then stated that Thunderbolt Ross' Red Hulk form "may or... may not" show up in Brave New World.

While Ford wasn't willing to outright rule out Red Hulk's involvement in Captain America: Brave New World, comments by other members of the production appear to suggest this could be a long shot. Notably, production designer Ramsey Avery highlighted Brave New World's "very grounded" tone in a recent interview, which seemingly rules out the inclusion of more fantastical characters like the Red Hulk. That said, the fourth Captain America outing is confirmed to include The Incredible Hulk's Samuel Sterns/The Leader (Tim Blake Nelson) as its main villain, leaving the door open for similar, gamma radiation-powered heroes and villains to appear.

Marvel Studios Boss Confirms Thunderbolt Ross' New Job

And even if Thunderbolt Ross doesn't transform into the Red Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World, he'll still have tremendous power at his disposal in the upcoming sequel. This is thanks to Ross' new role as U.S. President -- a development recently confirmed by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. "[Ross is] the President of the United States in the film... There's a dynamic between President Ross and Sam Wilson. They have a history together, but in this film, we'll be seeing the dynamic between Captain America and the President of the United States in a way that is just incredible," Feige teased.

Fans will have to wait until May 2024 to witness the interplay between Ross and Wilson, although Anthony Mackie has already shared a glimpse at the creative collaboration between himself and Ford. Mackie, who plays the Wilson role for the eighth time in Captain America: Brave New World, recently tweeted an image of him and Ford chatting between takes on set. Mackie's tweet also confirmed the fourth Captain America film's title had changed from "New World Order" to "Brave New World," without giving a reason why.

Captain America: Brave New World is set to premiere on May 3, 2024.
