  • Image Comics announced a new I Hate Fairyland anthology miniseries, The Unbelievable, Unfortunately Mostly Unreadable & Nearly Unpublishable Untold Tales of I Hate Fairyland. The first issue of the five-issue miniseries releases July 5, 2023, and features contributions from Skottie Young, Aaron Conley and Dean Rankine. "The only thing better than trying to create one of the longest titles in comics is inviting friends like Dean Rankine, Aaron Conley, and others, to come and cause some trouble with Gert in the crazy world that is Fairyland!" Young said.
  • Publishers across the country are preparing for Free Comic Book Day on May 6, 2023. Marvel's releases will set up the new "Fall of X" X-Men event, tease a new Uncanny Avengers team, preview Jonathan Hickman and Valerio Schiti's new G.O.D.S. series and more, while DC's will disclose more information about the upcoming Knight Terrors horror event. Other publishers such as Dark Horse Comics, Aftershock Comics, Archie Comics, BOOM! Studios, Titan Comics, Dynamite Entertainment and more are also releasing Free Comic Book Day issues. Two Andor Characters Make Their Comics Debut in Star Wars Pride Month Variants

  • Cinta Kaz & Vel Sartha, two fan-favorite characters from Disney+'s Andor, make their comics debut on a Pride Month variant cover by Phil Jimenez for Star Wars #35 (releasing June 7, 2023).
  • Marvel also released Pride Month variants by Javier Garrón for Star Wars: Yoda #8 (releasing June 7, 2023), Luciano Vecchio for Star Wars: Darth Vader #35 (releasing June 14, 2023), Betsy Cola for Star Wars: Sana Starros #5 (releasing June 14, 2023), Lucas Werneck for Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #35 (releasing June 21, 2023), Paulina Ganucheau for Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 2 #1 (releasing June 21, 2023) and Jimenez for Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #33 (releasing June 28, 2023).

Disenchantment Is Releasing Never-Seen-Before Comics

  • Titan Comics revealed a preview for Disenchantment: Untold Tales Volume 1, written and illustrated by the animated series' creator, Matt Groening.
  • Releasing on Sept. 19, 2023, Disenchantment: Untold Tales Volume 1 collects only two issues of Disenchantment comics that were previously released, while the rest features brand-new stories and never-before-seen comics starring a number of fan-favorite characters.
  • The solicit reads, "No, you’re not dreaming, it’s DREAMLAND IN PRINT! That’s right, your favorite princess, demon, and elf-hybrid-thing from Matt Groening’s popular animated series DISENCHANTMENT is now available in comic form! Hallows' Eve Returns to Break Ben Reilly Out of Prison

  • Hallows' Eve, one of Peter Parker's newest villains who debuted in 2022's Amazing Spider-Man #14 (by Zeb Wells, Terry Dodson, Ryan Stegman, Kyle Hotz and Michael Dowling), is starring in an oversized Amazing Spider-Man Annual releasing Aug. 2, 2023, from writer Erica Schultz, artist Julian Shaw and cover artist Corin Howell.
  • Marvel teased, "In AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ANNUAL, Hallows’ Eve will attempt her biggest scheme yet: breaking Chasm out of jail! Currently imprisoned in Madelyne Pryor’s new demonic Limbo Embassy, Spider-Man’s misguided clone is more vengeful than ever, and Hallows’ Eve is the only one who dares to let him loose! Does she have the skills and nerve to go head-to-head against the Goblin Queen? And how will the dark tidings from this year’s Hellfire Gala impact her bold rescue attempt?"
  • Hallows' Eve/Janine Godbe is currently starring in a five-issue limited series, Hallows' Eve, by Schultz and Dowling. The third issue releases on May 24, 2023.

Invincible's First Season Gets a New Art Book

  • Skybound Entertainment announced The Art of Invincible Season 1 will release in Nov. 2022. Serving as an official behind-the-scenes look at Prime Video's hit television series, the hardcover book comes just in time for Invincible's upcoming second season, which releases in 2023.
  • "The Art of Invincible Season 1 features exclusive character, background, and vehicle designs, key art, and more! This volume takes fans behind the scenes and includes interviews with key creatives, including Invincible comic creators Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker," Skybound said.
  • "Like many others, Invincible inspired me with its unique visual style, emotionally complex characters, and dynamic worldbuilding, so it’s been exciting to peek behind the curtain of the show's development through this book!" said Skybound editor Bixie Mathieu. "We’ve worked closely with the creators to capture the passion and excitement of the creative process as they developed everything from the endearing characters to the gory twists."

Whoopi Goldberg Co-Writes Her First Graphic Novel, The Change

  • Dark Horse Comics announced actor Whoopi Goldberg (Ghost, Sister Act) is co-writing her first graphic novel, The Change, alongside Jaime Paglia. The book is illustrated by Sunkanmi Akinboye, colored by Alexandria Batchelor, lettered by Frank Cvetkovic and features cover art by Khary Randolph.
  • Dark Horse said of The Change, "Isabel Frost is a woman who has spent her life as wife, mother, grandmother – a life she feels isn’t all she had hoped for, with a husband who has grown in another direction. A college graduate with a degree in science, Isabel is an amazing gamer, who plays with people all over the country.   • The Change releases on Nov. 29, 2023.

Creed Gets an Official Comic Book From Michael B. Jordan

  • Creed III director and star Michael B. Jordan is serving as the creative director for a new four-issue Creed series. Along with Jordan's involvement, BOOM! Studios' new Creed series comes from co-writers LaToya Morgan and Jai Jamison, artist Wilton Santos, colorist DJ Chavis, executive producer Elizabeth Raposo and associate producer Christina Raquel.
  • Set ten years after the events of Creed III, the series sees Adonis step out of the ring and become a mentor to his daughter, Amara, who wants to follow in her father's footsteps and become a professional boxer. The publisher teased, "But with Adonis and Bianca reluctant to pit their daughter against more dangerous opponents, Amara feels like her career is at a standstill, and she’s hungry for more. Amara will have to find another trainer. Someone who’s not afraid of defying Adonis but still knows how to teach her to fight like a Creed. Who’s up for the challenge of training a young boxer to become the next champion fighter?"
  • The first issue releases in June 2023 and features cover art by Mateus Manhanini, Valentine de Landro, Paris Alleyne and more.
