Ubisoft put fans in the driver's seat as Kay Vess in Star Wars Outlaws' first gameplay footage, which teased the mechanics and capabilities of the franchise's first open-world game.

The 10-minute walkthrough started with subterfuge as Kay and her axolotl-shaped companion Nix snuck around an imperial base. Attempting to escape from the base unnoticed, Kay performed stealth takedowns of unsuspecting officers, dispatched Nix to activate switches, and utilized her surroundings for ideal cover. While some players prefer stealth gameplay, Star Wars Outlaws demonstrated that Kay had blasters handy for those who would rather shoot their way out of conflict. Kay switched out a small blaster, similar to the one iconically wielded by Han Solo, to a heavier-duty scoped blaster that targeted explosive fixtures near her enemies.

Star Wars Outlaws Gameplay Highlights

Though Kay thinned out the incoming threat, the roguish character opted for an escape from the base on her nearby speeder bike. The outlaw, voiced by Ginny & Georgia's Humberly González, ducked and weaved through obstacles on the road to Juanta's Hope. Kay met her droid, ND-5, at the local cantina before delivering her stolen goods to the Mon Calamari Danka. During the exchange with Danka, a dialogue tree gave players the option to agree to an Imperial bribe or keep their payment intact.

The gameplay footage teased the results of turning down the bribe, leading to a higher-stakes version of Kay's speeder chase. Aboard their ship, Kay and crew made a galactic escape that included navigating space debris and shooting down enemy vessels. Upon their escape, Kay implied that the vast universe was the player's oyster and at which point clips from the game's various locales closed out the walkthrough. Star Wars Outlaws will feature planets iconic to fans of the franchise alongside entirely new environments that expand upon the world.
