Jean Grey came back from the dead, and Cyclops gave up on his retirement. Beast, Angel, and Iceman likewise returned to the X-Men line. In the process, they created an era-defining book that introduced classic villains to the franchise.

The spotlight here is shifted to Apocalypse, Genesis, and the origins of Arakko as revelations bring war. X-Men: Before the Fall - Heralds of Apocalypse #1, written by Al Ewing with art by Luca Pizzari, Stefano Landini, and Raphael Pimento, colors by Ceci De La Cruz, letters and production by VC's Travis Lanham, and design by Tom Muller, dives deep into the history of Arakko and the relationship between Apocalypse and Genesis while planting seeds for future wars.

Moreover, they proved that they could benefit the world as a nation. They protected the innocent with their X-Men and offered medicines that could abate or outright cure many complex diseases. To celebrate their advancements, Krakoa decided it was best to showcase their future endeavors in a more public forum with the Hellfire Gala.

<![CDATA[Beast Makes Himself Into A Monstrous X-Men Villain]]> The X-Men's Krakoa Era has been a huge benefit for the mutant population in Marvel Comics. Now, the X-Men represent more than heroes, they're representatives of a nation that demands respect but also to ally with the world. That said, with so much good that has come from Krakoa, there's also been a new struggle. For starters, the very presence of a united mutant nation has kickstarted plans from groups like Orchis to undermine and eradicate mutants using science and Sentinels. That said, potentially the largest risk of all may have come from within Krakoa.

Considered an Omega-Level mutant with no discernable power limit, Jean is capable of bringing down mystical threats like Nightmare and can stand her ground against Celestials, even without possessing the awesome might of the Phoenix Force. It's a good thing for the Marvel Universe that she's (usually) a noble and heroic figure, otherwise, the whole world could be in danger.

<![CDATA[Wolverine's Latest Discovery Confirms a Founding X-Man's Greatest Weakness]]> A quietly complex undercurrent of many X-Men characters and stories has to do with the fine line between self-faith and self-delusion. Xavier's dream for peaceful co-existence versus Magneto's ruthless approach, Cyclops' belief in harder measures during Decimation versus Wolverine's more optimistic faith in the Jean Grey School, and almost everything to do with controlling the Phoenix Force are only a few examples of how the X-Men have always been rooted in pushing themselves to the limit, and sometimes crossing boundaries they should have been avoiding. <![CDATA[X-Men: Nightcrawler and Rogue's Relationships are Tragic]]> Across the Marvel multiverse, Rogue and Nightcralwer's relationship in X-Men has been quietly complicated by their connection through Mystique. The shapeshifting villain is Nightcrawler's birth mother, but abandoned him as an infant to save her own life. Meanwhile, her strained relationship with her adopted daughter Rogue has led to plenty of discord amongst herself (and Rouge's paramor, Gambit). But this usually doesn't have a huge impact on Rogue and Nightcrawler themselves, who've served together on the X-Men.

Among the new wave of youthful heroes was Kitty Pryde, grown up from her first days as a member of the X-Men. The trouble with being a superhero, though, and especially an X-Man, is that the ghosts of one’s past have a habit of coming back with a vengeance.
