Gal Gadot provides an encouraging update about the sequel to her 2021 film Red Notice.

While speaking about her upcoming film, Heart of Stone, at Netflix's TUDUM event, Gadot revealed to Collider that Red Notice 2 is happening despite word about the sequel going quiet since October of last year, when it was reported scripts for the star-studded action comedy were being written. Gadot confirmed scripts have reached her and is excited about the film's prospects, having discussed it with the production team. “We're all talking about it. I don't know if I can say anything! I already read the second script and it’s… whoo! We're all very excited about it!" she said.

Gadot starred alongside fellow Hollywood A-listers Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds in Red Notice, directed and written by Rawson Marshall Thurber. Red Notice chronicled Gadot and Reynolds' characters, Sarah Black/The Bishop and Nolan Booth, a pair of globetrotting con artists and thieves trying to heist coveted works of art and sell them for huge profits, with FBI agent John Hartley (Johnson) chasing them down. Last year, producers Hiram Garcia and Beau Flynn insisted they were trying to film Red Notice 2 and Red Notice 3 back-to-back after Netflix officially greenlit a pair of sequels.

Red Notice's Critical Panning Didn't Stop the Film From Being a Success

Red Notice was widely panned by critics, attracting a 36% average critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with particular condemnation for its plot and screenplay. However, the performances of Gadot, Johnson, and Reynolds were praised, and audiences found the movie entertaining. Commercially, Red Notice was a hit for Netflix, becoming the streamer's most-watched film within its first 28 days of release and reaching their Top 10 rankings in 94 countries, leading to two sequels being ordered. Gadot, Reynolds, and Johnson are all expected to reprise their roles in Red Notice 2.

Meanwhile, Gadot seeks to earn another hit for Netflix as she stars in the upcoming spy action thriller, Heart of Stone, playing international intelligence agent Rachel Stone. The forthcoming movie sees Rachel tasked with a dangerous mission to prevent a mysterious MacGuffin, "The Heart," from getting into the wrong hands. Director Tom Harper likened Gadot's lead character in Heart of Stone to a female version of James Bond. A first look at Heart of Stone dropped at last September's TUDUM event.

Gadot's most recent film feature came during a cameo in the DC Universe film, The Flash, once again playing Wonder Woman. Though a Wonder Woman threequel was canceled amid significant changes at DC Studios, Gadot has hinted that her future in the DCU and the prospects of another Wonder Woman movie are still alive. Gadot also recently appeared in Fast X, returning as Gisele Yashar during the action film's final scene.

Heart of Stone premieres via Netflix on August 11. Fans can also stream Red Notice on Netflix.
