The following contains spoilers for The Boys Season 3, now streaming on Prime Video.

Despite what fans of The Boys saw in Season 3, Vought International insists that Black Noir's death is "fake and clearly generated by AI."

Vought International is The Boys' in-universe superhero company, responsible for covering up and enabling supes' crimes and collateral damage. In the Prime Video series' Season 3 finale, Homelander (Antony Starr) murdered fellow supe Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell) because he hid the fact that Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) was Homelander's father. On Twitter, one fan of the series shared a still of Black Noir lying dead and gutted on the ground, tweeting, "He's totally gonna come back." The Vought International Twitter account responded to the tweet, insisting that Black Noir is "alive and well."

Vought Covers Up Black Noir's Death on The Boys

"This image of [Black Noir] is fake and clearly generated by AI," Vought tweeted. "He's alive and well, and near completion of his critical mission overseas. Homelander and team look forward to his return!" This is not the first time Vought has insisted that Black Noir is still alive. After Black Noir's Twitter account lost its verification badge, Vought tweeted, "The lamestream media will use this to spread ridiculous rumors about his demise, but rest assured he is alive and well, and his critical mission near completion."

Prime Video's The Boys adapts the comic series of the same name created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Darick Robertson. Both in the comics and show, The Boys focuses on a small group working to take down Vought and its dangerous supes. The show premiered in 2019, and has made changes to The Boys' source material with each season. In the comics, Black Noir is revealed to be a clone of Homelander, but the show turned the silent supe into an entirely different person.

Black Noir Returns in The Boys Season 4

Spoilers for The Boys' upcoming fourth season, but Black Noir actually will return -- just not the version fans saw between Seasons 1 and 3. The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke explained after the Season 3 finale that "a character who is completely silent and in a black mask can be recast." Photos from the set of Season 4 revealed that Mitchell was back in the Black Noir suit, and the actor said previously that "it would be fun to go in the opposite direction" from the prior "stoic version of Black Noir."

Filming on The Boys Season 4 has wrapped, but it does not currently have a release date or window as of writing. It is expected to arrive after the show's Gen V spinoff focusing on the college lives of Vought's future supes. Gen V is slated to release sometime in Fall 2023.

The first three seasons of The Boys and its animated spinoff, The Boys Presents: Diabolical, are available to stream now on Prime Video.
