Madelyne Pryor, better known as Marvel's Goblin Queen, is leading her own team of Dark X-Men in a new series by Steve Foxe and Jonas Scharf.

Dark X-Men #1, which features cover art by Stephen Segovia, releases on Aug. 16, 2023, from Marvel. The new series sees Madelyne Pryor, who recently took a more heroic turn in the publisher's "Dark Web" event, lead a new Dark X-Men team through the upcoming "Fall of X" event. Other members of the team include Havok, Archangel, Gambit, Azazel, Zero, Albert and Emplate.

Marvel said of Dark X-Men, "Following the explosive events of the Hellfire Gala, Madelyne Pryor realizes the world needs the X-Men now more than ever. Havok, Archangel, and Gambit have served on teams before…but never one that looks like this! And how does Gimmick, breakout star of Children of the Atom and 2023’s Marvel’s Voices: Pride, fall under the Goblin Queen’s sway? Find out in the most horrific installment of the X-Men saga yet!"

"Picking up Madelyne Pryor’s journey is a WILD and terrifying honor," Foxe said. "Maddie is coming into DARK X-MEN with a sense of autonomy she’s rarely had over her life—but she’s doing so during the FALL OF X. I don’t think it’s a spoiler to say things aren’t happy-go-lucky for anyone in the mutant orbit right now, and that includes tempestuous redheads who’ve plopped a giant demon castle right off of Central Park. I’m excited for readers to find out how this unlikely cast got summoned under one roof—the ones at Maddie’s side by choice, the ones stuck in Limbo by circumstances out of their control, and the ones who don’t make it out of the first issue alive—and to watch Jonas Scharf unleash a whole new brand of gothic horror-action on the Marvel Universe. This is X-Men by way of Evil Dead and we’re not leaving until we burn the whole place to the ground."

Bobby Drake Elevates His Omega-Level Powers in a Serious Way

Marvel teased of Astonishing Iceman, "After the events of this year’s can’t-miss Hellfire Gala, Bobby Drake, aka Iceman, sets his sights on heroic deeds like never before. But as a new situation develops that links Iceman to his Antarctic ice palace, he’ll have to be slicker than ever to accomplish his mission before ORCHIS knows what hit them! See the Omega-level mutant as you’ve never seen him before in a new saga that’ll push Iceman to the limits of his powers…and beyond!"

"Have I not been saying my next Marvel project was cool as hell?" Orlando said. "Astonishing Iceman has been not just a joy, but a challenge, and the best possible kind....because the FALL OF X means Iceman's life is more dangerous and harrowing than ever. But Bobby is a hero to the core, and there's no danger he's met in whose face he won't laugh. When it's more dangerous than ever to be a hero, that's when Iceman's at his most heroic! And with Jesus Saiz and Vincenzo Carratù joining me on this--Iceman's going to look cooler than ever. See what I did there?"

Astonishing Iceman #1 is written by Orlando, features art by Carratú and cover art by Saiz. The issue releases on Aug. 2, 2023.

X-Men: Mutantkind Braces for "Fall of X"

"Fall of X" was originally announced at New York Comic-Con in 2022. The event is believed to bring about the downfall of mutantkind's Krakoan age, as the publisher previously teased, "The X-Men hoped Krakoa would last forever. Time to find out if they were right." At 2023's MegaCon Orlando, the publisher put out a "Fall of X" teaser image by Bryan Hitch and Alex Sinclair indicating series such as X-Men, Astonishing Iceman, Wolverine, Children of the Vault, Invincible Iron Man, Dark X-Men, Uncanny Avengers, Realm of X, X-Men Red, Alpha Flight, X-Force, Uncanny Spider-Man and Immortal X-Men are all part of the event.
