Warrior Nun debuted on Netflix in July 2020 and, shortly after, was renewed for a second season in August of the same year. Following the release of Season 2, Warrior Nun fans began campaigning for Netflix to greenlight a third season. Shortly after the second season's premiere, Season 1 jumped back onto Netflix's global top ten list for television shows. However, Netflix announced in December 2022 that it would not renew the supernatural drama for an additional season.

"I've just found out that [Netflix] will not be renewing [Warrior Nun] - my sincere appreciation to all the fans who worked so hard to bring awareness to this series, and for the love you showed me, the cast and the whole production team," Berry wrote at the time. "It was a privilege to be a part of this."

Fans Launch Campaign to #SaveWarriorNun

Unwilling to let the show stay canceled, fans began an online campaign to #SaveWarriorNun, even erecting a series of billboards around Netflix’s office in Los Angeles. "It just crystallized how lucky the show is to have this kind of fan engagement," Berry said of the campaign. "I do know from [Productivity Media], the people who own the rights, that their intention is to find a way to keep going."

Warrior Nun is based on the comic book character Warrior Nun Areala (who debuted in 1993's Ninja High School #37), created by Ben Dunn. Warrior Nun follows an orphan named Ava Silva, played by Alba Baptista in the series after she joins an ancient order of warrior nuns where she learns how to control her newfound superpowers to fight an ancient evil. The second season of the show ended on a cliffhanger, but with a newly announced renewal, it looks like loyal fans will finally get the ending they deserve.

Warrior Nun Season 3 does not have a release date.
