Jason Scott Lee, known as the voice of David in the original animated Lilo & Stitch, will make a special cameo appearance in Disney's highly anticipated live-action Lilo & Stitch adaptation.

There has been some speculation from fans regarding Lee's inclusion in upcoming the live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch. While appearing on the Kyle Meredith With… podcast, Lee confirmed his cameo in the upcoming film. "I got a little, small [part]. They threw me some bones, and I said, ‘Yeah, absolutely! In any capacity,'" he said. "I just wanted to be a part of it, so it’s a three-day cameo, and I think it will be fun. I’m playing the Luau manager. I get to see the kid that’s playing my character that I voiced, David. And I’ll get to see Lilo, and I’ll get to see Nani, the new people, the actors that are playing them. So it’ll be fun."

Lee's comments confirm that he will not be reprising the role of David in the new live-action adaptation. It was announced in April that Kahiau Machado would play David, the surfer who becomes the love interest of Nani, Lilo's older sister, who will be played in live-action by Sydney Agudong. However, after it was found that Machado had used racist language on social media, Disney decided to recast the role. Machado has now been replaced by newcomer Kaipo Dudoit whose previous credits include an episode of Magnum P.I. and My Partner.
