The Wire and John Wick star Lance Reddick has passed away at the age of 60.

Per TMZ, Reddick was discovered at his Studio City home at around 9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 17. The cause of death is currently unknown, but sources reportedly say it appears to be natural causes.

Reddick, who received his Master of Fine Arts degree from Yale School of Drama in 1994, became a household name for his portrayal of Baltimore P.D. Lieutenant Cedric Daniels in HBO's The Wire. The character was made famous for his by-the-books approach to policing, which saw him eventually leave the position of commissioner to embark on a career as a defense attorney. Reddick would also receive widespread acclaim for yet another leading role as Homeland Security Agent Phillip Broyles across all five seasons of J.J. Abrams' cult classic television series Fringe.

Reddick continued taking on fan-favorite genre roles as Albert Wesker on Netflix's Resident Evil series. The series quickly became the second most-watched series on the streaming platform immediately following its release, though it dropped from Netflix's Top 10 list only three weeks later. It was announced in August 2022 that the series had been canceled. Reddick responded to the cancellation by saying, "I want to give a special thank you to all the fans who watched the show and got what we were doing and really loved it... We made a hell of a show. Onward and upward."

Most recently, Reddick had been promoting the upcoming fourth film in the John Wick franchise, of which the actor had been a staple as Charon, a concierge of the iconic Continental Hotel. When Reddick's return to the franchise was announced in July 2021, director Chad Stahelski openly lauded the decision. "Lance has been part of the franchise since the very beginning and has had an integral role in shaping the world of John Wick," Stahelski said. "I couldn't be more excited to be working with him again."

Reddick had already played the role of Zeus in the first season of Disney's upcoming Percy Jackson and the Olympians series before his passing. Filming on Season 1 was officially announced as wrapped in February with a video posted to Twitter featuring the series' underwater sets. The series will see Reddick joined by fellow Olympians portrayed by actors including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Timothy Omundson and Toby Stephens, with Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri leading the series.
