Netflix's Squid Game Season 2 cast reveal is the second such announcement this month. On June 17, the streamer confirmed that Yim Siwan, Kang Haneul, Park Sunghoon and Yang Donggeun had signed on for Squid Game's next batch of episodes. Netflix did not disclose any details regarding Yim, Kang, Park and Yang's respective roles, however. Squid Game Season 2's shooting window is also public knowledge, as well. Lee Jung-jae spilled the beans regarding the second season's production schedule in a recent interview, indicating that cameras will roll soon. He also teased Squid Game Season 2's more ambitious scope compared to its predecessor. "Squid Game 2 will begin filming in the summer and the filming will likely last for about 10 months," Lee said. "We were working on Season 1 for about 10 months as well, but that was with delays caused by COVID-19. But seeing as Season 2 will be bigger in scale, it will probably take longer to complete."

Squid Game Season 2's larger-scale sensibilities presumably reflect Netflix's confidence in the property, which went on to become the streamer's most-watched series after it premiered in September 2021. Netflix is even considering producing an American remake of Squid Game, if a recent report is to be believed. According to the report, Netflix executives are eager for Seven director David Fincher to helm the remake. That said, Netflix is yet to publicly comment on the report and there's no indication that Fincher has entered into discussions regarding the alleged project.

All nine episodes of Squid Game Season 1 are currently streaming on Netflix. Season 2 is expected to premiere on the platform sometime in 2024.
