My Adventures With Superman introduces fans to Clark Kent's biological father Jor-El in a form that's very different from what many have come to expect.

In a new video, Clark's adopted parents reveal the truth behind his arrival on Earth as they unveil what seems to be a gigantic spaceship. After scanning the young boy, a program activates and a Hologram appears, speaking an alien language. Despite being unable to understand what he's saying, the cape-clad figure does state his name to be Jor-El, Superman's Kryptonian father. As the structure begins to activate around him, Clark notices that both Ma and Pa Kent are at risk of being caught in its mechanisms and falling to their deaths. He swiftly flies over and rescues them from an untimely demise.

Pitched as a Christopher Reeve-inspired romantic comedy/coming-of-age story, My Adventures With Superman sees Clark Kent coming to terms with his dual identity while also trying to make it as a journalist in Metropolis. If that career isn't daunting enough, he's also trying to impress Lois Lane, the woman who's destined to become the love of his life. "They're at the Daily Planet. They're going through the life stuff that you go through when you're in your early 20s," said Tom Ascheim, president of Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics. "But there's a lot of -- It's a romance, you know, in addition to being a superhero story. In our version, Clark is new to his powers, so it's also a, it's a coming of age story for all of them."

Jack Quaid Is Ready for His Cape

The highly-anticipated animated series stars Jack Quaid as Superman, Alice Lee as Lois Lande and Jeannie Tirado as Lana Lang. While Quaid has plenty of experience in both animated series (Star Trek: Lower Decks) and the world of superheroes (The Boys), taking on the role of Superman proved to be a tough experience for him, one that he was happy to accept. "It is a challenge, but I see it mostly as an opportunity," Quaid explained. "Not even an opportunity, just I get to be able to play in all of these different universes. I mean, the fact that I'm in Star Trek, and Superman, and this crazy messed up universe where superheroes are real and are drugged from birth to become superhuman. That's insane."

My Adventures With Superman premieres on Adult Swim on July 6.
