Kevin Bacon is set to star in the Prime Video action-horror series The Bondsman.

Per Deadline, The Bondsman, which comes from the mind of Grainger David, will consist of eight, 30-minute episodes. Erik Oleson will be the showrunner, as his production company CrimeThink has a deal with the streaming giant. Oleson also recently worked on the second season of Prime Video's Carnival Row and The Man in the High Castle along with the third season of Daredevil on Netflix.

The Bondsman follows Hub Halloran, "a backwoods bounty hunter who comes back from the dead with an unexpected second chance at life, love, and a nearly-forgotten musical career — only to find that his old job now has a demonic new twist."

Kevin Bacon's Hollywood Career

Kevin Bacon is an appropriate casting choice for the budding horror drama, as he has an extensive thriller/crime/horror pedigree. Early on in his career, he played Jack Burrell in the original Friday the 13th. His character has one of the genre's iconic deaths, being stabbed with an arrow while smoking a joint. He went on to play in the cult classic Tremors – and returned for the behind-the-scenes documentary Tremors: Making Perfection. Aside from those older classics, and another cult film, Flatliners, Bacon has also starred in much more recent horror projects, such as Blumhouse’s They/Them and the 2020 psychological thriller You Should Have Left. He also has many significant credits outside of scary movies, having recently starred as the title character in Prime Video's I Love Dick, which aired for a single season and earned Bacon a Golden Globe nomination.

The news of The Bondsman comes mere days before the release of another Prime Video horror project. The dramedy The Horror of Dolores Roach, also produced by Blumhouse, is "a contemporary Sweeney Todd-inspired urban legend of love, betrayal, weed, cannibalism and survival of the fittest," per the official logline, and will debut July 7th.

Kevin Bacon’s return to horror as an undead bounty hunter in The Bondsman does not have a set release date, as production will not start until the WGA labor strike is resolved. However, in the meantime, fans of Bacon can enjoy rewatching Tremors and I Love Dick on Prime Video.
